Biomedical Engineering (BME) Project Editor, Purdue University                                    2005-Present

Working within the Engineering Communications Office, provide marketing and communications for the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering.

•  Researched, developed, and implemented a strategic communications plan in less than three months, completing major objectives in less than three years, including development of visual identity and key branding segments and coordination with higher level branding

•  Implemented a variety of web-based activities, including WWW site redesign and expansion and having that be part of flagship operations for College of Engineering redesign efforts

•  Implemented industry-style exhibit activities, reaching several thousand participants in events and resulting in partnership discussions and applications for students and potential faculty

Director of Outreach (CST, Inc.), NASA Space Product Development Program                        1998-2002

As a contract employee, developed “from scratch” and implemented an integrated and effective outreach plan for the program resulting in increased positive exposure within the agency, within government, and with industry, resulting in more than a million dollars a year in new investment for business development.

•  Developed a list of target audiences and a five-year strategic plan of international scope that was coordinated with NASA HQ, Commercial Space Centers, and other institutions and agencies; implemented using in-house teams and external vendors developed/contracted for tasks; and, met all major goals in 3.5 years

 

•  Coordinated a unified campaign between the unique messages of NASA, the Commercial Space Centers, host institutions, and other agencies and institutions so as to provide brand management, consistent messaging, and multi-level knowledge management and information placement

•  Oversaw a successful multi-level media relations campaign encompassing general, trade, and scientific press

•  Planned and developed an integrated WWW site and new media campaign to place key messages with thousands of visitors

•  Developed and expanded operations at trade shows, industry forums, and conferences worldwide which resulted in new partnerships at nearly every event

•  Created unique outreach efforts aimed at non-traditional sources, such as the entertainment industry, to promote the program and the commercial research being done through it
